Dear Georgie D. Tyler Titan Family:
Dr. Steven Marable has been named as the new principal of Georgie Tyler Middle School. He brings to his new assignment considerable experience in public education having previously served as an assistant principal, lead teacher, and head varsity wrestling coach. He received a bachelor of science degree in Geography with minors in History and Political Science from Old Dominion University. He earned a master of arts degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from The George Washington University, as well as a doctorate in Educational Leadership & Policy from Virginia Tech.
“Dr. Marable will make a wonderful addition to the administrative team at Georgie Tyler,” said Dr. Perera. “His experience as an educator and school administrator will allow him to provide a comprehensive approach to leading the school toward continuous improvement.”
Also, It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Jessica Harding, to the Titan Team! Mrs. Harding comes to us from Portsmouth Public Schools where she most recently served as a Secondary Social Studies Teacher and Department Chair. She brings extensive administrative experience from both the building level and central office (where she worked directly with the Superintendent for Portsmouth Public Schools). She also processes a strong background in classroom management, student-centered use of technology, and an in-depth focus on instruction. Although, most impressive, is her passion for working with students and overall positive approach to leadership.
Please be reminded:
The mission of Isle of Wight County Schools and Georgie D. Tyler Middle School is to prepare our 21st century learners for educational excellence. GTMS teachers and staff are more than prepared to meet this challenge head on as we guide students toward achieving academic success and encourage critical thinking, problem solving skills, and positive character traits along the way.
Remember, your child’s academic success takes teamwork and my door is always open to make sure that it happens. This is going to be a positive and engaging school year at GTMS! We look forward to working with you and your child to ensure a productive and safe learning environment that promotes the highest levels of student success.
Dr. Steve Marable
